"Energy Flows Where Attention Goes"
I hear that quote often now. One time from Reverend Dr. Daniel Beckwith and another time from Tony Robbins, and I never realized how much our energy actually does flow were our attention goes.
We are in precedented times. With all the impactful events happening, it's kind of hard for you not to focus on all the hard things in and out of your life that are going on.  Did you ever feel like when it rains, it pours with the unfortunate events. Like things keep getting worse and worse. For example the different riots, the killings, and racism, to the protesting, the unemployment the whole lack of. It seems like there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm making a decision to not focus on all the bad and I'm going to focus my energy on the good. I challenge you to do the same as well. We can't control everything around us, but what we can do is control how we are going to react to it.  I'm not saying to just ignore all the impactful things and that it doesn't exist; it does. There's a lot of bad energy.
You might be thinking, "Yeah right easier said than done!" Try starting out with the things you are thankful for.  Many have died, you are alive! Just the beautiful life of yours in itself is more than enough to be thankful for. Now let's manifest on the good from there. What else can you be thankful for? How can you flip the bad to focus on the good? For example, It could be frustrating and scary if you are out of work.  Focusing on that alone is stressful especially since you have no control over it. Now let's focus on the silver lining. When you were out of work did you get to spend time on doing something that you really didn't have enough time to do before?  How about having more family time? Did you get to travel? Or did you simply get to spend more time focusing on your well being?
When you know better, you do better so today I'm challenging you. What are you going to focus on? What are you going to pay attention to in your life?  What are you going to choose, the good or the bad? Where is the energy going to go? What have you realized that you've been focusing on? Is there something you realize that you've been paying attention to where it's been manifesting into bigger and bigger things?  Are those things good or bad?
Personally I was focusing on everything going on dealing with racism and all the different people that were getting killed for no reason without any accountability. Everyday I would just see post after post after post of these horrible events. I focused on it so much, it was the only thing I would talk about. I would be disappointed over and over again. Every day I would experience this disappointment that I felt would just be thrown in my face to the point where it got me so frustrated that I wanted to cry. I felt like my life was disposable to certain people and my opinions and feelings on it didn't matter, all because the color of my skin. This was so disheartening to the point where I was almost on the verge of depression.
All of a sudden it hit me like a lightning bolt. Why was I focusing on all the bad in these situations? What about all the good that happened?  What about the laws that were changed? What about the racist rhetoric that was removed? What about all of the people who realized there was a problem and stood up for change? What about the conversations that were finally had with the people you cared about about the social issues?  Why wasn't I paying attention to that?! As I chose to make a change in what I put my attention on, things drastically changed!  I'm making new relationships with people every day who care about the wellbeing of a person regardless of the color of their skin, or age or political preference.
I now choose that I'm going to focus on other good things in my life. I'm going to focus on building my relationship with my husband, my family, and my business. I choose to not focus on the "what ifs" and things that I can't control. I challenge you to focus on the things that you intend to do. What are the things that you can't control that you're focusing on? What are the things that you can control that you're focusing on that is manifesting in the way you don't want it to manifest? How can you flip the attention from the bad to the good?
